POUTAHI


Important changes. Both venue & timing have changed for the first wananga reo, Poutahi due to low numbers. Please note the changes below. These are different to what has been previously advertised in both this website, & panui to the komiti.

VENUE: Uncle Gerald's - 20 Rogers Road, Bay View, Hawkes Bay, NZ

START: Saturday, 9:00am - 4:00pm

                 Sunday, 9:00am - 4:00pm    FINISH:

(Please contact me & let me know if you are going to attend the wananga. This is important for grouping & catering purposes.) Morning tea, afternoon tea & lunch will be provided. We will begin 9:00am sharp! You might want to arrive at 8:30.


WHAT TO BRING:

Writing stuff, note-book, pens, Dictionary (Williams, Matatiki, Ryan, Cormack) 

Sleeping gear (incl sheet/ pillowcase), pjs, toiletries, two towels, teddy bear

Informal clothes (incl workout gear): sunhat, sunblock,  waterbottle , meds

Optional: Camera, vidcam, Guitar, Ukulele, deck of cards.

A big dose of willingness to learn & a fun attitude 

NB: Please bring some homebaking: for supper & cuppateas. (This is to lessen catering costs)

There will be a small charge for the resources

 

WHAT WE WILL LEARN:

We will study basic kōrero – greetings, introductions, questions, & so forth. We will also learn simple waiata, karakia & haka. Our resources (kupu, kōrero, waiata, karakia) will be based on Tangoio Marae and the Taylor whānau whakapapa, especially our pepeha and mihimihi. 


WANANGA KAWA:

During wananga time, the wananga is smoke-free, alcohol-free, drug-free.
